I know that people might call me crazy for even bringing this up, i mean it's stupid right?
I'm going to start off by saying that my race is Tiwanese. I don't really know how to go from this but i'm going to say that Chinese new years spawn is a tad racist. Like I said many of you may think this as stupid or silly. A chinese take-out box and a veitmanese rice farmer is a bit stereotypical. And Take-out box's arn't chinese, they are american FYI. To put this into comparison, it would be like us having a 4th of july spawn w/ Super fat people eating hamburgers and Mcdonalds, or a brittish spawn with nothing but tea and crumpets. Or an australian spawn with Kangaroo jack, and Giant spiders. My point is that spawn may offend some people. (I'm ok with i) However, many others might find this tiping on racist.
Thanks for your time!

I don't see how an American spawn with burgers or a British spawn with tea would be insulting-- it's ok to poke fun of and make light of things. A lot of work went into the Chinese New Year spawn, and it is a beautiful piece of work. Having a take out box is just a representation of Chinese culture in westernized places.

I wouldn't say that a takeout box and a rice farmer constitute racism (the farmer being seen as Vietnamese I would chalk up to either the builder doing their best with insufficient knowledge or an assumption on the interpreter's part. I don't have sufficient knowledge myself to know the difference between people from different areas of Asia beyond their cuisine and writing...and I could identify someone counting in Korean, but that's irrelevant). Now, if they posted signs where all the r's were replaced with l's and vice versa, I'd have a HUGE problem with that as that is going after a stereotype rather than trying to portray the culture as it exists in other areas.

I'd have issue with McDonnalds on a 4th of July spawn not because of it being "racist" (which it can't be, because various pieces of archaeological, sociological, and anthropological evidence show signs that even the indigenous people are actually from Asia and Europe, but that is another topic altogether), but because it's a poor excuse for food and In-N-Out would be a MUCH better burger joint to portray. No comment on the "super fat people" part after having spent 5 months in New Mexico with my only grocery options being Albersons (one of the most expensive grocery stores) and Walmart...
