Hardcore was last updated May 2025. It has almost been a year.

Some of the Maps are REALLY outdated and NOT FUN examples: SRA (came out 2011, 14 years old), Elusion (also 2011 orignally), Invictus the one im on (2015, 11 years old). Yes i get that they are meant to be hard cause its "HARDcore", but i genuinely am not having any enjoyment with Invictus (+ it has hunger with low food amount, this map is a Very hard Maze + parkour)

Arrowhead a Map in the Big three is called an "Adventure map" meanwhile it has like 85% parkour and rest adventure. In my opinion way too much parkour for an Adventure map.

BUT some maps are good! Like Favela (Maze, genuinely my fav maze), Celestial Pull (Puzzle), Dancing with devils (Puzzle), Nilhelm (Adventure), Innsmouth (search), Bustlin' Bees (parkour 2. guess), Iron door (puzzle).

Anyway my point it needs an update. YES i am biased, but i genuinely want to beat Hardcore but i am having such a mental hard time with Invictus because it is so unenjoyable, demotivating and lifeless. (No big hate to the maker of Invictus)
Thank you for reading and taking your time <3

  1. Arrowhead did feel like a mixed parkour to me, might replay it soon and make a changethread. I agree that it is mainly focused on parkour.
  2. I really enjoyed Sra despite not enjoying most old maps. It had a unique gimmick and never felt unfair, and was able to look decent aesthetically despite it's age. These maps were picked specifically as shining example of old maps, giving a sense of perspective as to how mapmaking has evolved over time. However, when old maps do have noticeable blemishes in quality, I feel it important to look at them not as a way of dismissing these maps as bad, but as a way to grow away from the mistakes of the past.
  3. Gauntlet of Persephone (my leg 5) felt quite easy, and I think I would call it the second easiest leg of hardcore for my run, just behind choice from HC11. Palus and Sra were quite easy, and Fire Dragon's Dungeon was a very well designed maze. I've not yet played Invictus, so perhaps it is quite a bit harder and this is just a balance issue between the 3 gauntlets. Wonder what the percent of completions for each gauntlet are, if there's some way for admins to get that data.

This sentiment honestly brought back some flashbacks lmao. Looking back though I do believe the admins did a pretty decent job balancing the gauntlets as it is now compared to what it used to be, while still allocating a place for the “classic” old maps (maps you’ve mentioned) so that blues can experience a piece of history of the server. And you are right, Hardcore is meant to be a hard challenge, and you’re on the very last (and intentionally most challenging) stretch! Some greenies definitely shared that same sentiment no matter the gauntlet map they did during their HC time but you got this! Take a break when needed.

I also had Invictus as my final map, and it was absolutely brutal. I had to do it twice because I died in Jiga's Claymaze and my recording was bugged, so I lost all my mapping progress.

That being said, I think Invictus is a perfect final map. Old maps are a key part of hardcore in my opinion. As natcrackers said, it's part of the history of Minr, but I also think that hardcore should encompass not only all the map styles, but also all the mapping eras. Invictus is the perfect example of a map from an older era, that also still retains a lot of novelty and playability.

There will be maps that you don't enjoy. That is also part of hardcore. I hate mazes, and I got stuck on every single one in HC. I still hate every single one except Invictus. You just need to overcome that mental hurdle, that's what makes HC what it is, and what makes completing it so rewarding.

Also, the hardcore version that I started on was around for 4 years, so I think this one still has at least another 6-12 months of life left.

With invictus i dont think id be as upset if hunger was such a huge thing. I've been in Invictus like 5 times now and mostly issue was hunger, which is so brutal.

I hear both your and natcrackers point on old maps being history and from older era, i think its good to have some variety of eras in HC. But i also think some maps can be outdated when their old. It's a balance.

Thanks for your view!!

I can't really say much about Sra + Gauntlet of Persephone since im not on those maps and have no clue how they actually are. I added it cause ive heard frustrations about it from a friend. (Same with Elusion)

I'm really curious about the precentage of completetions of each of the gauntlets now, really good point of yours.
I'd assume it would be pretty even though. I do think the gauntlets are quite blanaced and i'm very much just annoyed at invictus Lol.

Thank you for your perspective though!!

I shared this info in a greenies channel as it was brought up but I’ll throw it in here to. I collected info on the split of gauntlets as of mid March.

Of 61 12.0 gauntlet completions:
Athena: 19 (31%)
Dionysus: 22 (36%)
Persephone: 20 (33%)

As you said, it’s as even as expected. Of course this data doesn’t include those that are currently stuck in the gauntlet stage.

Good luck!
