Hardcore was last updated May 2025. It has almost been a year.

Some of the Maps are REALLY outdated and NOT FUN examples: SRA (came out 2011, 14 years old), Elusion (also 2011 orignally), Invictus the one im on (2015, 11 years old). Yes i get that they are meant to be hard cause its "HARDcore", but i genuinely am not having any enjoyment with Invictus (+ it has hunger with low food amount, this map is a Very hard Maze + parkour)

Arrowhead a Map in the Big three is called an "Adventure map" meanwhile it has like 85% parkour and rest adventure. In my opinion way too much parkour for an Adventure map.

BUT some maps are good! Like Favela (Maze, genuinely my fav maze), Celestial Pull (Puzzle), Dancing with devils (Puzzle), Nilhelm (Adventure), Innsmouth (search), Bustlin' Bees (parkour 2. guess), Iron door (puzzle).

Anyway my point it needs an update. YES i am biased, but i genuinely want to beat Hardcore but i am having such a mental hard time with Invictus because it is so unenjoyable, demotivating and lifeless. (No big hate to the maker of Invictus)
Thank you for reading and taking your time <3

  1. Arrowhead did feel like a mixed parkour to me, might replay it soon and make a changethread. I agree that it is mainly focused on parkour.
  2. I really enjoyed Sra despite not enjoying most old maps. It had a unique gimmick and never felt unfair, and was able to look decent aesthetically despite it's age. These maps were picked specifically as shining example of old maps, giving a sense of perspective as to how mapmaking has evolved over time. However, when old maps do have noticeable blemishes in quality, I feel it important to look at them not as a way of dismissing these maps as bad, but as a way to grow away from the mistakes of the past.
  3. Gauntlet of Persephone (my leg 5) felt quite easy, and I think I would call it the second easiest leg of hardcore for my run, just behind choice from HC11. Palus and Sra were quite easy, and Fire Dragon's Dungeon was a very well designed maze. I've not yet played Invictus, so perhaps it is quite a bit harder and this is just a balance issue between the 3 gauntlets. Wonder what the percent of completions for each gauntlet are, if there's some way to figure that out.
