Hi all, this is just a fun little concept suggestion I would love everyone's thoughts on. No idea how feasible this would be to actually implement.
Problem: Currently, the main things to grind out on Minr are completely unrealistic and unobtainable for the majority of the player base. 100% FFA points, Challenge points leaderboard, and Speedrun score leaderboard are all not very feasible, and currently the only recognition players get for making progress on these projects is chat messages.
Cosmetics don't satisfy this problem, because you can't see what accomplishments a player has unless you are directly looking at them in-game while they are online, with the specific cosmetic they want to show off. Even then, players will probably not know what daunting task they are trying to show off. This makes cosmetics unmotivating to grind for, and almost purely, well, cosmetic.
I believe that there should be more obtainable goals to grind for on Minr, with rewards that recognize your achievements regardless if you are online.
Solution: Introducing Badges! Badges would be a single-line addition to /whois (ign) that recognizes the player for their achievements on the server. You can hover over each badge to see what unlocks that badge.
Below is an example of a theoretical player with a completely unrealistic number of badges:
Nobody would actually have this many badges. Typically 2-3, maybeee 5 if you're the goat.
Badges could also send chat messages, and show when hovering over a players name maybe:
Here are some ideas for badges on the easier side of the spectrum:
* Beat every Primary Maze
* Beat every Primary Puzzle
* Beat every Pure Parkour
* Create a map in FFA
And here are some fun ideas that are much much harder:
* Beat every Primary Parkour
* Be #1 in speedrun score
* Beat every soul link challenge
* Beat 10 maps in Summit
* Reach the end of a Beep Test
* Find every artifact
* Find agatha
We could also have badges that could upgrade in color, for example:
* Reach 10% - 25% - 50% - 75% - 100% FFA points
* Reach 10% - 25% - 50% - 75% - 100% Challenge points
* Reach 1,000 - 3,000 - 10,000 - Top 10 - Top 1 Speedrun Points
* Make 1 - 3 - 5 - 10 - 25 Maps in FFA
These are just off the top of my head, but I could totally see players enjoying having something to grind for other than 100% FFA points.
Too many badges would definitely just add noise, so they should be for an exclusive set of milestones, with a handful of insanely unreachable ones for fun. They could also probably show up in /cosmetics. Maybe we could also have /badges with a display menu. Again, no idea how hard any of this would be to implement. This is just a concept I think would be fun. Curious what everyone thinks, and if you have badge ideas of your own, post them below.
